A nanoscale amorphous silica powder is hydrophilic fumed silica obtained through the high temperature hydrolysis reaction of silica halides in a hydroxide flame, which is hydrophilic because of the hydroxyl groups retained on the surface of its particles. Hydrophilic silica can be wetted with water and dispersed in water.
